The News
As you know, Troop 17 has been actively searching for a new bus. Late last week, the Bus Committee approved the purchase of a bus and placed a deposit to hold the sale of it. The bus is a 2004 Blue Bird with a dt466 transmission and in the words of Rick Archie handled like a 40 foot Lexus (yes, he is exaggerating). It is currently in Tulsa, Oklahoma and can be repainted by the seller before we drive it down. This cost of this bus exceeded our existing funds, but through the shrewd negotiation of Mr. Archie with the seller (who was an Eagle Scout) and a loan from a former Scouts family, we were able to acquire the new ride. We still have some money to raise to pay back our loan and to cover the cost of new tires and the paint job. Several parents are leading this effort. If you or someone you know would like to donate or assist with the fundraising, please send a note to Mr. Duke. Pictures of the bus are publicly available on our photo site http://photos.troop17.net. Thank you to everyone that assisted with the search and fundraising efforts so far.
